Progress in oils - Vicky Park in yellow!

About time I brought you up to date with my efforts in oils.
My first picture eventually suffered from over working; the sheer versatility of the medium seduced me so that I kept on changing things until, frankly, all the freshness and originality that had been in the painting at the beginning had been painted out.
The efforts which followed went in the same direction, but more slowly. Bearing in mind that I'd never worked in oils before this and you'll understand that I had more than a little to learn!
All the same, lessons with artist and friend, Louise Ellerington, were beginning to get me somewhere, although until lately I didn't know exactly where!
My most recent painting has something interesting in it. I think. It isn't perfect but I'm not ashamed to share it with you! But see what you think for yourself.

Successful Special View at Leicester's Cank Street Gallery

What a fantastic evening we had at Cank Street Gallery on 15th of this month! The special view of the gallery's Open Exhibition for 2015 was wonderful and very different, with a wide variety of artworks by artists, sculptors & craftspeople from the Leicestershire area.

The range of work was genuinely fascinating, from tiny sculptures to large scale multi-media installations, still life, portraits, landscapes and abstracts available to purchase.

The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by the many people who attended, the friends, family & admirers of exhibitors, art buyers, local curators and the occasional celebrity.

Dayle Flude, the Gallery owner, was delighted with the turnout and with the friendly, positive atmosphere, which continued all evening. It was one of those parties where everyone was happy to be in attendance :)

Leicester's Cank Street Gallery's Open Exhibition remains open until the end of October.

The Yuletide Exhibition comes to an end as Christmas approaches

'Strange Imaginings' Yuletide
Art Exhibition at the
Ellerington Gallery, Leicester
The Yuletide Art Exhibition at Ellerington's Gallery has been in full swing for two months. A good number of my family and friends have popped in over recent weeks and apparently enjoyed the experience, in particular the mix of drawings & Christmas goodies; skillfully made jewellery, beautifully colourful ceramics, delicate metalwork & luxurious fabrics gathered for the event.

Coming at it cold I'm rather impressed by the second of my drawings, of a wobbly Big Ben. It's fun - more fun than my drawing of Notre Dame, possibly because Big Ben is such a familiar structure. My 'Jelly' Ben now even makes me laugh! And as Louise says, one day someone will fall in love with it & buy it :)

Arguably the most important corner
of the Yuletide Exhibition!
